Our programming is designed to build confidence, a sense of belonging, and future-ready competencies that help young people discover the best version of themselves to transition successfully into the workforce and post-secondary life. Role Overview

We are seeking a energetic, values-aligned Facilitator to lead a ten-session weekly after-school program for a cohort of 15–20 youth in partnership with the Aga Khan Foundation for Canada’s Future Ready Initiative. This role involves delivering Thrive’s Youth Lead Impact (YLI) curriculum, which uses creative experiential learning and project management to help young people develop their leadership, confidence, and future-ready skills.

The primary goal of this program is to guide youth as they plan and execute a creative community-focused group project to help their peers navigate post-secondary pathways, scholarships, and workforce entry. Skill development will be supported by guest artist-educator workshops and community partners.

Key Responsibilities

- Program Delivery: Facilitate a structured yet adaptable 10-session curriculum that centers on the lived experiences and unique voices of newcomer youth.
- Mentorship: Act as a bridge and role model for students, helping them navigate challenging conversations and teamwork.
- Inclusion: Utilize an anti-oppression approach to ensure all participants feel a sense of belonging,



regardless of language barriers or socio-economic status.
- Technical Guidance: Support youth in the creation of their group project in collaboration with guest artist educators and community partners.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Assist with the "public launch" on the final program session, where youth present their work to families and community leaders.

Qualifications & Attributes

- Experience: Proven track record of working with youth, specifically newcomer populations or those from underserved communities.
- Communication: Exceptional group facilitation skills with the ability to prompt engagement from reserved or shy participants.
- Cultural Sensitivity: Deep understanding of the challenges faced by newcomer families, including mental health, language barriers, and cultural adjustment.
- Values Alignment: A commitment to kindness, empathy, and empowering youth to affect positive change in their communities.
- Language: Fluency in English is required; proficiency in additional languages relevant to the local newcomer community is a significant asset.

Other Requirements:

· Current Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector screening

· Current First Aid & CPR-C Training an asset

· Belief in the Thrive Youth goals and means of achieving the goals

Working Conditions

This is a fixed term contract position for an approximate total of 100 working hours, with online training plus program preparation occurring in late August and early September, with program delivery occurring on-site in the early evenings (~6pm – 8pm) starting in mid-September and concluding in late November.
