The Channel is a restaurant and wine bar on Main Street in Liverpool, a warm, curious little room where the world arrives in a glass and strangers leave as regulars. As an Experience Host, you're the heart of that room. You'll be the welcoming face of the evening: guiding guests through our food menu and beverage list, taking care of tables from first hello to last goodbye, and making people feel genuinely looked after. It's less about performing and more about presence, reading a room, anticipating a need, and turning an ordinary visit into a moment someone remembers. No wine encyclopedia required; curiosity and warmth are what we can't teach, so that's what we hire for. The rest, we'll pour into you.
Responsibilities
- Welcome guests warmly and help them feel at home from the moment they walk in
- Guide guests through our food and beverage offerings with genuine curiosity, no memorized script, just real recommendations
- Take care of tables attentively from start to finish, anticipating needs before they're spoken
- Handle guest questions and the occasional hiccup with grace, resolving things calmly and kindly
- Process payments accurately and responsibly
- Serve food and beverages with care and attention to detail
- Keep your space clean, organized, and ready, a well-tended room is part of the welcome
- Help create the easy, inclusive atmosphere that makes people want to come back
Qualifications
- Front-of-house, hospitality, or guest-service experience is a plus but a genuine warmth toward people matters more
- A friendly, approachable presence
- Calm professionalism when it gets busy
- Reliability, attention to detail, and a real interest in making people feel cared for
