Job Description

The Journeyman Electrician is responsible for interpreting drawings, performing installations and repairs, as well as conducting preventative maintenance activities.

The incumbent will also work in cooperation with other trades and labourers to ensure that all specifications, legislation and policies are met, and to ensure efficient completion of any project.

Duties & Responsibilities

- Read and interpret drawings and electrical code specifications
- Run testing and troubleshooting activities to resolve issues as they arise
- Installation and maintenance of electrical systems
- Work with the Planner to identify materials needed to complete project work
- Accurately estimate project and repair costs, communicating these effectively to the Planner
- Perform diagnostics, repair, maintain, service and complete installs in accordance with manufacturer specifications
- Perform preventative maintenance tasks as required
- Oversee skilled labourers that are assigned to assist with any project work
- Perform tasks in accordance to health and safety standards
- Completion of work order forms, detailing work performed and materials used, assist in inventory and stock control, and compiling of supply orders
- Supervision/training of apprentices as required
- Be on call-out team to handle emergencies




- Travel to other various communities in Nunavut when needed
- All other duties as assigned

Qualifications

- 5+ years’ technical and trade experience
- Current electrical license / Red Seal Certification
- In-depth knowledge of installation, maintenance, and repairs of electrical systems
- Understanding of the current regulations within the field
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills on a technical level
- Able to work both independently and as part of a team
- Must be a self starter with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Must be adaptable with good judgement delivering high level of efficiency and proficiency
- Must demonstrate a positive and professional demeanour
- Strong client focus with demonstrated ability to deliver excellent customer service
- Must have a strong work ethic and be reliable
- Current 5F driver’s license
- Able to pass the required background and credit checks

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $45.00 per hour
