Position Title: Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) or Child and Youth Care (CYC)

Program: Kinder/School Age

Language: Bilingual (French and English) - French Immersion background is welcome

Status: Part-Time

Schedule: Monday to Friday, up to 20 hours; subject to all hours of operation

Rate of Pay: $22.88- $25.86 / hour, commensurate on education; inclusive of benefits and vacation

As a leader in child care in the Brockville and surrounding area, The Ange Gabriel Children’s Centre is a branch of the St. John Bosco Children's Centre family. We are responsible for the care of over 40 children during the day, plus an after-school program of over 40 children. Job Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for providing care and education to children in a group setting which meets the standards of the Early Years Act, Code of Ethics and the Policies and Procedures of St. John Bosco Children’s Centre.

- Developmental programming based on observations, developmental needs and interests of the children
- Planning and facilitating a balance of appropriate activities




- Maintaining and recording daily observations of the children in the program
- Respecting individual abilities and developmental levels of the children in the program
- Guiding children’s behaviour through discussion and logical sequences
- Communicating with parents on an ongoing basis as an active listener

Key Competencies:

- Oral and written skills in both English and French
- Great interpersonal and relationship-building skills with children, parents and co-workers
- Team player, with a great work ethic
- Creative, takes initiative, plans ahead
- Comfortable handling stressful situations as they arise
- Demonstrated computer literacy and comfort with technology (specifically the Parent app)

Qualifications:

- College Diploma in Early Childhood Education or Child and Youth Care
- Current unrestricted Registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators
- Experience in a kinder or school age program in an emergent environment setting
- Up-to-date Standard First Aid CPR Level C
- Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screen within six months
- Up-to-date vaccinations and immunizations as per local health unit guidelines
