Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (30-minute unpaid lunch)
We are currently hiring a Vacuum Calibrator for one of our clients in North York. This position is ideal for someone with machining or CNC experience who enjoys precision work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for fabricating, repairing, and maintaining vacuum calibrators and related tooling while ensuring all products meet quality standards.
Responsibilities:
Blueprint Reading & Fabrication
- Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Split blocks and machine steps according to specifications.
- Mark bases for blocks and prepare components for assembly.
- Drill, tap, and machine holes for bases and clamp assemblies.
- Cut slots and chamfer blocks using appropriate machining equipment.
- Wash and sandblast completed blocks.
- Plug vacuum and vacuum holes and grind plugs to specification.
- Install nipples, brackets, and other required hardware.
- Polish completed vacuum calibrators and punch identification numbers.
Repairs & Tooling
- Perform repairs and modifications on vacuum calibrators, jigs, post flex components, and other production tooling.
- Repair and modify existing tooling as required.
- Identify different types and grades of metals used in manufacturing.
Quality Control
- Inspect finished components using callipers and other precision measuring tools.
- Compare completed parts against engineering drawings and specifications.
- Perform water testing to verify product quality and functionality.
Inventory Management
- Catalogue completed tooling and components.
- Store inventory in designated locations while maintaining an organized workspace.
Housekeeping & Safety
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Dispose of scrap materials appropriately, including metal and aluminum recycling.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
Training
- Assist with training and mentoring other employees as assigned.
Qualifications
- CNC Certificate or 2–3 years of equivalent machining/manufacturing experience.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Experience operating machining equipment and using precision measuring tools such as callipers.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs safely.
- Previous experience in machining, tooling, vacuum calibrator fabrication, or a related manufacturing setting is considered an asset.
