Job Title: Heavy Equipment Technician



Overview

Heavy Equipment Technician working in a hydralift shop, responsible for assembling, installing, maintaining, and repairing mobile cranes and heavy equipment. Focus on hydraulic systems, mechanical assembly, and troubleshooting to ensure safe and compliant operation.

Responsibilities

- Assemble and install hydraulic cranes per drawings and specifications
- Install and service hydraulic components (pumps, valves, cylinders)
- Mount and align cranes on truck chassis
- Perform mechanical fitting of booms, outriggers, and structures
- Test and commission equipment to ensure performance and compliance
- Troubleshoot and repair cranes, heavy equipment, and trucks
- Perform preventive maintenance and inspections
- Interpret schematics, manuals, and work orders
- Use hand/power tools and diagnostic equipment
- Follow all safety procedures and shop standards

Must-Haves

- Experience with heavy equipment (cranes, loaders, excavators, forklifts, etc.)
- Robust hydraulic and mechanical troubleshooting skills
- Crane assembly or mobile crane experience
- Electrical troubleshooting on heavy equipment
- Ability to read schematics and technical drawings
- Proficient with tools and shop equipment
- Strong safety mindset and reliability

Assets

- Red Seal Heavy Equipment Technician / HD Mechanic (or Apprentice)
- Experience in construction or mining environments
- Overhead crane experience
- Forklift experience
- Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Edmonton, AB.

Pay and Perks

The pay range for this position is $41.10 - $44.10/hr.
