Jenike & Johanson is seeking a Project Engineer with 3+ years of experience in engineering and consulting at our Toronto office. This role, depending on the candidates’ qualifications, may have the opportunity to start in the Toronto office as a short-term assignment before reassignment to work hybrid from another location.
This role blends technical project engineering and client-facing elements for bulk solids handling projects from design concept through solution delivery to the client, with an emphasis on consulting and advisory work.
Responsibilities:
- Develop engineering solutions to address technical challenges involving bulk material handling and processing systems.
- Communicate and present solutions to clients, evaluating processes and providing clear, actionable guidance.
- Perform feasibility studies, conceptual designs, and functional designs.
- Coordinate laboratory and pilot scale testing with powders and bulk solids.
- Research solution approaches involving equipment configuration or process modifications.
- Perform engineering calculations and analyses related to material flow, transport, storage, and conveying systems using proprietary modeling technologies and engineering tools.
- Evaluate client processes and recommend technically sound material handling solutions.
- Communicate technical findings, recommendations, and project results to clients and internal stakeholders.
- Support project planning, schedules, deliverables, and technical documentation.
- Participate in client-facing activities, proposal development, technical presentations, and business-development initiatives as part of a cross functional team.
- Travel on a periodic basis to meet with clients, perform site visits,
and visit J&J; offices both domestically and internationally.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or civil engineering (other disciplines may be considered).
- 3+ years of relevant engineering experience, preferably in consulting or client advisory roles.
- Experience in bulk solids handling and processing, manufacturing systems, or industrial process design preferred.
- Basic CAD package familiarity, such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
- Solid engineering design, analysis, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills. Bilingual in English and French is considered an asset.
- Robust collaboration skills and ability to work effectively within multi-discipline engineering teams.
- Capable of working independently while adapting to changing priorities and business needs.
- Must have valid driver’s license and passport, or ability to obtain one.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
