Duties
- Safely operate commercial vehicles to deliver freight and packages across designated routes, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations
- Load and unload freight using forklifts and other heavy equipment, ensuring secure handling of cargo
- Inspect vehicles regularly for maintenance needs; perform basic automotive repairs when necessary to maintain optimal performance
- Manage freight documentation accurately, including delivery logs, shipment manifests, and inspection reports
- Communicate proactively with dispatch teams regarding delivery statuses, delays, or issues encountered during routes
- Conduct safety checks before and after trips; report any vehicle malfunctions or safety concerns promptly
- Assist in warehouse operations by preparing freight for transport and ensuring proper storage of incoming shipments
Experience
- Proven experience in commercial driving with a valid driver’s license appropriate for the vehicle type assigned
- Hands-on experience operating forklifts and heavy equipment in a logistics or warehouse setting
- Knowledge of freight handling procedures and safety protocols for transporting goods
- Basic automotive repair skills to troubleshoot minor vehicle issues on the road or at the facility
- Familiarity with delivery documentation, route planning, and GPS navigation tools
- Ability to operate heavy machinery safely and efficiently in various environments
