Overview
Join our dynamic team as a DZ Driver – Tilt N Load Operator and become a vital part of our logistics and transportation operations! In this energetic role, you'll be responsible for safely operating commercial vehicles equipped with tilt and load capabilities.

The DZ Tilt-N-Load Operator is responsible for the safe, compliant, and professional transportation of machinery and equipment in support of the Company's industrial relocation, rigging, fabrication, and maintenance projects.

This position is considered a field-support role and works directly with Project Managers, Dispatch, and Field Supervisors to execute transportation and machinery moves in alignment with PMI’s safety and operational standards. The Tilt-N-Load Operator is accountable for the protection of client assets, the condition of company equipment, and compliance with all provincial and federal regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Transportation Operations

- Operate tri-axle tilt-n-load truck in compliance with Ontario Highway Traffic Act and CVOR regulations
- Delivery and pickup of customer assets, company equipment, and fabricated steel products
- Plan transport routes considering height, weight, seasonal restrictions, and plant access limitations
- Confirm weight distribution and axle compliance prior to departure
- Obtain required permits when directed

2. Loading & Securement

- Operate hydraulic deck and Rolloff system for safe loading and unloading
- Perform winching operations safely and effectively
- Secure loads using chains, binders, slings, blocking, and edge protection
- Ensure load securement exceeds minimum regulatory requirements when required for asset protection
- Protect high-value industrial equipment from cosmetic and structural damage

3. Rigging & Field Support

- Assist millwright crews with:
- Equipment positioning
- Blocking and cribbing
- Minor disassembly when required
- Participate in machinery relocations and decommissioning projects when assigned
- Maintain awareness of overhead hazards, pinch points, and load stability




- Assisting with field projects in between driving assignments
- Understanding of hand signals and basic safe operation procedures in industrial settings

4. Compliance & Documentation

- Complete daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections
- Maintain accurate ELD entries and logbooks
- Submit signed Bills of Lading and delivery confirmations
- Document load condition with photos prior to departure and upon delivery
- Report incidents, near misses, and mechanical issues immediately

5. Equipment Accountability

- Maintain cleanliness and organization of:
- Truck interior/exterior
- Deck surface
- Securement equipment
- Inspect chains, binders, winch cables, and rigging equipment regularly
- Notify management when equipment replacement is required
- Ensure truck inventory checklist is complete at all times

Performance Expectations

The Tilt-N-Load Operator is evaluated on:

- Zero preventable load securement violations
- Zero preventable equipment damage incidents
- Clean CVOR record
- Skilled client interactions
- Timely and accurate documentation
- Proactive communication with dispatch and project managers
- Proper care and maintenance of company equipment

Qualifications:

- Valid Ontario DZ License
- 5 years experience operating a tri-axle tilt-n-load w/roll off system
- Clean driver’s abstract; 3-year Uncertified
- Understanding of load securement regulations
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Ability to work safely in active industrial environments
- AWP and Forklift certifications preferred

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $30.00-$40.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 – 50.0 per week

Education:

- Secondary School (preferred)

Experience:

- Commercial driving: 2 years (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

- Driving Licence (preferred)
- Aerial Work Platform (AWP) Certification (preferred)
- Forklift Licence (preferred)
- Air Brake Endorsement (preferred)
