Position Summary:

The Counsellor (Online Delivery) provides confidential, qualified, and culturally responsive mental health support to NEC learners accessing services remotely. This role delivers virtual short-term counselling, crisis intervention, and case management through secure online platforms, ensuring learners studying online or unable to attend in-person services receive equitable, accessible, and timely support.

Working collaboratively with Student Services, Longhouse teams, and academics, the Counsellor upholds strict confidentiality, ethical practice, and clinical standards. The role supports learner well-being by offering culturally grounded guidance, responsive intervention, and coordinated care that reflects NEC’s values and Longhouse teachings.

Qualifications:
Master’s degree in counselling psychology, Social Work, or related field.

Current registration or eligibility for registration with a recognized professional body (e.g., BCACC, CCPA, or equivalent).





Minimum 2 years of counselling experience, preferably in virtual or post-secondary settings.

Experience delivering counselling via online platforms.

Strong understanding of trauma-informed and culturally responsive practice.

Knowledge of Indigenous wellness frameworks is an asset.

Strong crisis intervention and risk assessment skills.

Excellent communication and documentation abilities in digital environments.

Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information remotely.

Must be able to pass a criminal record check.

Terms:

Appointment may require a criminal record check; results may affect final offer of employment.

Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required for programming or events.

Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm-35 hours per week, possibility of evening and weekend shifts

Salary: $$39.03/hr. As Per Collective Agreement
