Barista

Job Summary:

We are seeking a passionate, experienced Barista to join our team. The ideal candidate has a strong background in specialty coffee, takes pride in crafting exceptional beverages, and is committed to providing attentive and personal customer service. This role is perfect for someone who is enthusiastic about coffee and wine, who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment.

About Us:

Neverland is part bookstore, part café, part wine bar. We are a small but busy café in the heart of downtown. As a Barista, you will work closely with a Bookseller to ensure a smooth guest experience.

Responsibilities

- Welcome guests with a friendly and professional demeanor.
- Operate the POS system, take customer orders with consistency, accuracy, and attention to detail.
- Prepare a variety of beverages including hot and cold espresso drinks, wine, and cocktails
- Deliver exceptional customer service by answering questions and ensuring every guest has a positive experience.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the café, coffee bar, and equipment.
- Monitor inventory levels, communicate supply needs, and assist with stocking and receiving orders.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and responsible alcohol service guidelines.
- Demonstrate excellent latte art skills and a strong understanding of espresso extraction, milk steaming, and coffee preparation.




- Assist in developing seasonal and themed beverage offerings while maintaining consistency across the menu.
- Perform daily cleaning and routine maintenance of espresso machines, grinders, and other coffee equipment.
- Work collaboratively with team members to provide exceptional guest experiences.
- Wine knowledge preferred
- Book knowledge a plus but not required

Qualifications

- Previous experience as a Barista, preferably in a specialty coffee setting.
- Strong knowledge of coffee, espresso preparation, and latte art.
- Experience operating POS systems and handling transactions.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and attention to detail.
- Wine knowledge or serving experience is an asset (training provided for the right candidate).
- Smart Serve certification (or willingness to obtain) is required.
- Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
