Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre has an opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse with current orthopaedic experience including knowledge of Joint Replacement Surgeries, pre-operative assessment, and familiarity of the post-operative discharge process. The individual must have robust clinical assessment skills and organizational abilities.
- Provides pre and post-operative patient education.
- Collaborates with physicians and interdisciplinary team members, completes and reviews POP Nursing assessments and related documentation to assess and follow up on any outstanding patient issues
- Actively participates in process improvements, educational activities and research
- Provides physical assistance with patient transfers, relief coverage on patient care units, and the out-patient department
Qualifications/Skills
- Current Registration with Ontario College of Nurses
- Current BCLS Certificate
- Health Assessment course essential
- B Sc. N. preferred
- CNA Certification in orthopaedics preferred
- 5 years current surgical experience in orthopaedics with skills in Pre-Op and Post-Op care and Patient/Family teaching
- Proven leadership skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills in order to communicate effectively with patients, families and members of the multidisciplinary team
- Commitment to patient-focused care concepts principles
- Knowledge of and ability to effectively use organizational resources
- The ability to work in a fast paced and stressful environment is essential
