Job Overview
A privately owned real estate group is seeking an experienced Senior Property Accountant to join its Accounting Team within the Property Management division. This role is ideal for an individual with solid real estate accounting experience, a high attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will be a proactive self-starter who can manage multiple priorities, meet tight deadlines, and demonstrate strong ownership over their work.
Responsibilities
- Prepare year-end audit working papers and liaison with auditors.
- Prepare audited and unaudited financial statements for internal and external users.
- Reconciliation of bank statements, mortgages, loans and monthly journal entries.
- Verify code and ensure processing of accounts payable, once authorized by property manager and review payments for accuracy before submitting to Management for signatures.
- Prepare and report HST returns.
- Prepare and process Tenant CAM/TAX recovery reconciliations.
- Investigate and validate recovery rules in tenant leases.
- Ensure correct chargeback to tenants.
- Prepare intercompany fund transfer and billings for commission, etc.
- Prepare and submit annual MPAC financial reporting requirement.
- Prepare various accounting reports and analysis as requested.
- Prepare and review annual budgets and quarterly forecasts.
- Support property management personnel in financial accounting matters.
- Prepare and submit quarterly survey of financial statements required by Statistic Canada.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by Management.
Qualifications
- CPA designation with 3+ years of relevant real estate accounting experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively across all levels of the organization.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with Yardi Voyager 7S financial reporting is required.

Pay: $90,000.00-$95,000.00 per year
