School Nutrition Program – Kitchen Staff

Grande Prairie & District Catholic Schools covers a geographical area that includes the regional communities of Grande Prairie, Beaverlodge, Sexsmith, and Spirit River. We are a team of 600 staff who provide quality teaching and learning experiences for approximately 5400 students.

Position Overview

The School Nutrition Program Kitchen Staff work under the direction of the School Nutrition Program Coordinator to prepare and deliver a healthy range of food items in a clean and organized food service environment.

- Assist with confirming weekly menus
- Assist in maintaining inventory and complete weekly food and supply orders
- Prepare meals and snacks according to approved menus
- Maintain a clean, sanitized and organized kitchen area
- Dishwashing
- Follow food safety, sanitation and nutrition guidelines
- School deliveries
- Perform essential functions
- Regular and reliable attendance
- Other duties as assigned

Ideal Candidate Qualities and Desired Qualifications

- Knowledge of dietary allergies and food safety regulations
- Previous experience in food preparation and cooking, including large volume cooking




- Proficient in various cooking techniques and methods
- Experience with menu planning and meal preparation
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Effective time management and multitasking abilities
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Physical ability to bend, squat, lift, and stand or walk for extended periods of time

Other

- Hourly rate (grid range): $19.09 - $24.50.

- Hours of work are 6 hours per day on school days. School Nutrition Program Kitchen Staff are not scheduled to work during school vacation periods including the summer break.
