Position Summary

The Nurse Consultant is a key member of Dominion Pharmacy's retirement home pharmacy operations team, supporting safe, effective, and compliant medication management across Ontario retirement homes. This role blends clinical education, quality auditing, and relationship management, acting as the primary point of contact between the pharmacy and its retirement home clients. The successful candidate is a confident educator and coach who builds trust easily with front-line staff and is comfortable travelling regularly across the province.

Key Responsibilities

Staff Education

- Educate registered staff and UCPs on the medication system and safe administration practices.
- Train staff on oral, inhalation, and injection administration routes.
- Lead diabetes management education, focusing on hyperglycemia and hypoglycemia response.
- Deliver additional clinical education topics as needs are identified.

Medication System Audits

- Audit home medication systems using a structured tool with built-in reporting.
- Assess compliance with regulations, licensing standards, and pharmacy policies.
- Identify improvement areas and develop follow-up action plans.




- Track resolution and report outcomes to the home and pharmacy.

Pharmacy-Home Liaison

- Serve as the primary liaison between retirement homes and the pharmacy.
- Relay home feedback on equipment, technology, policies, education needs, and service.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with home staff and leadership.
- Escalate and follow up on service issues to ensure timely resolution.

Policy & Procedure Development

- Assist in developing, reviewing, and maintaining pharmacy policies and procedures.
- Align policies with current regulatory requirements and best practices.
- Contribute front-line insight gathered from home visits and audits.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

- Frequent Ontario travel to retirement home sites (approximately 50% of working time).
- Valid Ontario driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle required.
- Regular interaction with home staff, UCPs, and healthcare professionals.
- Scheduling flexibility may be required to accommodate site visits.

Qualifications & Skills

Education & Experience

- RN or RPN, in positive standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Prior experience in a Long-Term Care (LTC) or Retirement Home environment.




- Working knowledge of medication systems and provincial regulations.
- Experience delivering staff education or training is an asset.

Pay: $28.00-$38.00 per hour
