Job Summary

The Cost Accountant is responsible for supporting and overseeing daily costing activities, performing detailed job cost analysis, and ensuring the accuracy of inventory and production cost tracking.

This role works closely with cross-functional departments to analyze cost data, maintain accurate financial records, support operational decision-making, and ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards. The position also assists with reporting, reconciliations, month-end activities, and continuous improvement initiatives related to costing and inventory management.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform detailed job cost analysis for mix and finished goods production
- Prepare daily telemarketing inventory count sheets
- Generate shunt lists to support inventory balancing at the distribution facility
- Coordinate outside storage loads and purchase order pickups for finished goods
- Prepare and present cost reports on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis
- Create and maintain bills of materials (BOM) and update standard costs as required
- Work closely with the Costing Manager and other team members
- Collaborate with production and operations teams to ensure accurate inventory and cost tracking

Qualifications & Requirements

- 2–4 years of experience in cost accounting, preferably within a manufacturing or production environment
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and Adobe
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Syspro or Solochain) is an asset
- Strong knowledge of costing principles, inventory management, and production processes
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing demands
- Willingness to learn and take on new challenges

Qualifications

- College diploma or University degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration

Compensation

At Chapman’s, compensation is guided by a pay-for-performance philosophy that recognizes and rewards individual contributions.

Salary Range

$75,000 to $85,000 annually, based on experience, skills, and internal equity.
