This position has a term length of 1 year plus 1 day.
Location - This role is in-person at North Campus Edmonton.
Reporting to the Academic Department Manager (ADM) in the Department of Emergency Medicine, the Academic Coordinator will provide a wide range of operational support to the Academic Department Manager, faculty, and execution of activities related to the Alberta Medical Health Spending Plan (AMHSP). The Academic Coordinator is responsible for carrying out the day-to-day activities for academic recruitment for the Department of Emergency Medicine.
Responsibilities
- Supports recruitment and selection of AMHSP physicians. Ensures University faculty selection process and Alberta Health Services recruitment criteria is met when recruiting faculty, locum and AMHSP physicians.
- Develops and coordinates complex onboarding process for new faculty, offering a high level of service in navigating the multifaceted requirements (AHS, Alberta Health, CPSA, and University of Alberta).
- Supports all AMHSP reporting to AHS for workforce reporting.
- Provides administrative support, including but not limited to expense claims, supply net, meeting prep, etc., to AMHSP faculty members.
- Manage AMHSP special projects and events.
Ensures the ADM is kept abreast on recent developments that are related to various projects, priorities, and meetings.
Qualifications
- University bachelor degree (Human Resources, Business). University diploma in related field with experience will be considered.
- 3-5 years of administrative experience within a clinical academic department
- 2-5 years of general human resources duties within an AMHSP environment
- Excellent communication (oral and written)
- Excellent interpersonal, organization and time management, accuracy and attention to detail,
- Demonstrated ability to perform independently or in team environment; requires critical thinking
- Faculty recruitment experience considered an asset
- Strong understanding of the complexity of working alongside multiple mandates within academic health environments (University, Alberta Health Services, Alberta Health, provincial government, charitable foundations, institutes, etc.).
- Able to multi-task
- Strong organization
- Knowledge of University policies and procedures
- Experience with Google suite, MS Office, PeopleSoft/HCM, SharePoint, online platforms (Zoom, Microsoft Teams)
