Position Title: Culture and Land Based Program Facilitator

Department: Mental Health and Addictions

Location: We’koqma’q First Nation

Status: Full-time/Regular

Reports To: Team Coordinator, Addictions

About the Role The Culture and Land Based Program Facilitator supports culturally grounded, trauma-informed programming that promotes healing, wellness, and connection to Mi’kmaw culture, language, and the land.

This role is responsible for planning, coordinating, and facilitating cultural and land-based activities while working closely with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and community members. The position also provides administrative and logistical support to ensure effective program delivery.

Key Responsibilities

- Plan, coordinate, and facilitate cultural and land-based programming aligned with community needs
- Develop and maintain a seasonal schedule of cultural activities and ensure timely communication
- Support ceremonies and cultural gatherings (e.g., healing circles, sweats, smudging, feasts, seasonal events)
- Coordinate land-based wellness activities such as harvesting, fishing, medicine gathering, and outdoor teachings
- Work with Elders and Knowledge Keepers to ensure cultural protocols are respected
- Support addictions prevention, recovery, and aftercare programming through cultural approaches
- Provide logistical and administrative support, including scheduling, reporting, and coordination of resources
- Track program activities and assist with reporting and basic budgeting




- Collaborate with internal staff and external partners to strengthen programming

Qualifications

- Post-secondary education in Social Work, Human Services, Indigenous Studies, or related field (asset)
- Minimum 3 years’ related experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
- Knowledge of Mi’kmaw culture, protocols, and language (asset)
- Experience working with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and community programs
- Strong organizational, communication, and planning skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
