The Role

An opportunity has arisen for a Dietetic Support Worker to support the Medical Dietetic Team based at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital (QEUH). The successful candidate will work as part of the medical team, supporting a clinical caseload across QEUH and other sites.

The role involves working closely with dietitians to help patients who are acutely ill meet their nutritional needs and contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care.

This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for a Skilled Worker visa or a Health and Care Worker visa. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is unable to provide candidates or employees with a Certificate of Sponsorship (COS).

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern

Base Location: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital

Permanent, part time 21.6 hours

Work Pattern

3 days per week

Working hours: 8:30/9:00 am – 4:30/5:00 pm

Monday to Friday

Some flexibility is available regarding working days

Key Responsibilities

Support the Medical Dietetic Team with a clinical caseload.

Work alongside dietitians to assist patients in meeting their individual nutritional needs.





Support and contribute to the delivery of patient care.

Assist with the planning, delivery, and evaluation of nutritional care goals.

Maintain and use electronic patient records and digital systems.

Communicate effectively with patients and healthcare staff.

Work in accordance with the Health Care Support Workers Code of Conduct.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job

An interest in nutrition is essential.

Strong IT skills and confidence using electronic records and multiple IT systems are required.

Excellent communication skills are essential, with the ability to engage confidently with both patients and staff.

Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Must adhere to the Health Care Support Workers Code of Conduct.

Experience or knowledge of supporting nutritional care and working in a healthcare environment would be beneficial.
