Position SummaryThe Facility Operations Coordinator is a hands-on position with responsibility for coordinating the administrative, maintenance, materials management, and housekeeping facets, in multiple units of housing for people who are residents of our programs. This position performs building maintenance functions and inventory control, rent collection, and tenant intake/exit.

The Facility Operations

Coordinator supervises janitorial staff and liaises with the Program manager and support staff. The position may require some evening work. It requires understanding and supporting the mission and values of RainCity Housing and the models/methods of supporting the people who access our services, including models of Housing First and Harm Reduction. Position Type: Temporary until January 13, 2027, or return of incumbent, Part time, 0.7 FTEHours: 52.5 hours bi-weekly Hourly Range: $34.46 - $36.27 (BCGEU, Grid 35) Schedule: Week 1: Monday, Wednesday & Friday: 8:00AM – 4:00PM, Week 2: Monday & Tuesday, Thursday & Friday: 8:00AM – 4:00PM. At present includes a 30-minute unpaid meal break.Start Date: As soon as possible. A clear British Columbia Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check for working with vulnerable adults and/or children is a condition of employment with RainCity Housing.

Applicants must be willing and able to receive a clearance under the Criminal Record Review Act.

Program

Summary

Princess Rooms was RainCity Housing’s first minimal barrier housing program in Vancouver for people facing systemic and individual barriers to adequate housing and health, personal and financial security.

Princess

Rooms came to life to address the unique safety and support needs of people who struggle with mental health in our community. The program offers a flexible, non-judgemental environment and follows a harm-reduction/health promotion philosophy. For us,



the term ‘Risk Reduction’ doesn’t only apply to drug use or safer sex.

It can mean safer lives, creating safer spaces for people to live and thrive in. QualificationsOur mission is to advance social equity by building upon the strengths of our community and of each individual. We are looking for employees who will be dedicated to helping fulfill our mission.

Many forms of education and experience are valued, including volunteering, and lived experience of mental health/substance use/homelessness.

Minimum education and experience include: Grade 12

Building Manager (Residential) Certificate

2 years related experience.

Knowledge of WHMIS principles and safety protocols, WHMIS certification preferred.

Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

First Aid/CPR training

Valid BC Driver’s License.

Key Skills and Abilities Ability to operate related equipment.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills; including sensitivity to diverse backgrounds.

Ability to work with a variety of tenants. Demonstrates understanding of oppression and marginalization as related to homeless individuals.

Able to complete a variety of computer-based paperwork and administration duties. Computer literate in Windows, MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Able to enforce RainCity Housing and tenancy requirements in a sensitive manner, in consultation with Support Workers.

Physical ability to carry out the work including performing heavy cleaning duties and ability to use a dolly to move heavy items such as kitchen appliances.

Ability and experience doing small repairs such as repairing holes in drywall and installing toilets and other plumbing fixtures.

Basic understanding of HVAC systems, wiring and electricity, and conventional and electronic lock systems.

Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Ability to plan, organize and manage their workday so that work is completed in a timely manner despite interruptions.

Ability to identify an emergency and respond appropriately.

Must wear steel-toed footwear when appropriate, and other safety equipment when needed such as eye and head protection. #indcamp
