Your Role
The Mid-Level and Planned Gifts Officer is responsible for executing fundraising strategies that achieve the financial goals of Ronald McDonald House Alberta while fulfilling donors’ philanthropic interests and passions. This role builds meaningful donor relationships, supports mid-level giving growth, and leads the continued development of legacy giving opportunities across the province.
This is a full-time hybrid position that may be based in Calgary, Edmonton, Red Deer, or Medicine Hat. Travel to Ronald McDonald Houses and applicable events across Alberta is required, and some evening and weekend work will be needed based on donor, event, and organizational needs.

Your Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Plan, implement, and evaluate comprehensive mid-level and legacy giving strategies across the province, aligning activities with annual fundraising goals, organizational priorities, and long-term revenue objectives.
- Develop cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, retention, and upgrade strategies that deepen donor engagement and increase philanthropic support from mid-level donors.
- Lead the growth and evolution of the legacy giving program by identifying, cultivating, soliciting, stewarding, and recognizing planned giving donors.
- Inspire and educate donors on charitable estate planning and tax-efficient giving opportunities, collaborating with qualified advisors as appropriate.
- Manage a portfolio of approximately 150 mid-level and planned giving donors and prospects, providing personalized engagement and timely relationship management throughout the donor lifecycle.
- Identify, qualify, and transition donors to higher giving opportunities, including major gifts and planned gifts, while maintaining a healthy pipeline of future philanthropic support.
- Develop compelling proposals, cases for support, and personalized gift opportunities; conduct direct solicitations to secure annual, multi-year, and planned gifts.
- Partner with Stewardship and Marketing & Communications colleagues to support donor recognition, acknowledgement, impact reporting, and portfolio-specific fundraising materials.
- Maintain accurate donor records, contact reports, proposals, opportunities, and moves-management activities within Raiser’s Edge and other relevant systems.
- Monitor fundraising performance, donor retention, portfolio activity, and giving trends, using insights to identify growth opportunities and reduce donor attrition.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of proven fundraising experience.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
- Experience and confidence with public speaking, presentations, and donor conversations.
- Outstanding organizational ability, project management, reporting skills, attention to detail, and follow-through.
- Self-motivated with the ability to multi-task, exercise independent judgment, and manage competing priorities.
- Demonstrated professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality when handling sensitive donor and organizational information.
- Valid driver’s licence and access to reliable transportation, with the ability to travel throughout Alberta as required.
- Strong computer and information management skills.
- Commitment to ethical fundraising practices and professional standards.
- Must provide a clear criminal record check.
Nice to Haves
- Experience with mid-level giving and/or legacy giving.
- Experience using donor database and relationship management systems; proficiency with Raiser’s Edge is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of charitable estate planning, tax-efficient giving opportunities, and planned giving best practices.
