The Learning Disabilities Association Fraser South is a registered charity that has been serving the communities of Surrey, Delta, White Rock, and Langley since 1979. We are a not-for-profit organization governed by a body of dedicated volunteers and consist of professionals and parents who have a robust connection with learning differences.

Join our dedicated team as a Therapeutic Tutor, where your passion for helping others and your experience in children's education or preparation to be an educator will make a meaningful difference in the lives of children with diverse learning needs. In this role, you will teach our reading/ spelling tutoring program using the Barton Reading and Spelling system or math using Orton Gillingham methods. You would foster a positive learning environment that promotes growth, confidence, and independence. Your energetic approach and commitment to personalized care will empower children to reach their full potential through engaging, structured, and compassionate tutoring sessions. The successful candidates will be able to set their own hours (4-20 hours a week) to teach out of our center in Surrey for local students, or online for students province wide. (online can be done remotely) Currently our center is open Monday to Thursday from 2pm to 8pm for in person tutoring services, and open hours for online tutoring. If the need arises we would open the center on more days.

This position would be ideal for a teacher working part time, educational assistant, LST teachers,



ESL teacher, retired teacher, ECE's, or University students attending school for teaching, literacy, or mathematics. If you have worked with children in an educational setting, or are planning to in the near future this may be a great fit for you.

All candidates hired will be required to get a criminal record check, and a vulnerable sector check.

Duties

- Use evidence-based teaching techniques and program to enhance literacy or mathematics. Tutors choose what subject they want to teach. (training provided) Monitor progress regularly, documenting achievements and areas for improvement
- Create a motivating and supportive atmosphere that encourages active participation and confidence-building
- Maintain accurate records of sessions, progress notes, and communication with team members

Experience

- Demonstrated experience working with children in educational settings or currently enrolled in educational program to work with children is preferred.
- Background in teaching or tutoring in literacy or mathematics is preferred. Training is provided.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively engage children and collaborate with families and professionals
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet diverse learning styles
- Compassionate, patient, energetic, and committed to fostering a positive learning environment

Pay: $22.00-$25.00 per hour
