Job Overview
Reporting to the General Manager, the Packaging Operator is a full-time position, responsible for the production of the company’s products while following safety rules and regulations. You will be required to maintain all equipment to required standards and be responsive to production needs and equipment failures. You work as part of a team but would routinely perform work independently and maintain a high level of accuracy and safety while performing your duties.
Responsibilities:
- Using and overseeing machinery used to package products
- Inspecting and examining machinery and equipment to detect irregularities and malfunctions.
- Checking product quality and packing items into bagger
- Adjusting machinery and repairing or replacing defective parts
- Labelling packages for shipment and stacking them on pallets
- Inspecting packaging material and performing quality checks on the packages product
- Keeping very detailed and accurate maintenance reports and documentation.
- Cleaning, lubricating and ensuring machinery upkeep
- Adhering to workplace safety policies, regulations and compliances
- Maintaining a clean and environmentally safe work area
- Performing other related duties as assigned
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Experience with operating packaging machinery is an asset – will train right candidate
- Understanding of safety regulations and procedures
- Posses a robust work ethic, a high degree of responsibility, accountability and flexibility.
- Able to effectively communicate verbally as well as in writing.
- Very well organized and able to efficiently work independently or part of a team.
- Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Valid Class 5 license
- Physically able to lift up to 50 pounds.
