THE KITCH'INN HOSPITALITY GROUP: We run a restaurant group + hospitality brand in Mahone Bay that knows how to fill rooms, manage a kitchen, and keep guests happy.
Our numbers, however, are currently held together by hope, coffee, and a file called FINAL_FINAL_v12.xlsx. We need a Bookkeeper who can save us from that… before the tax man shows up with a clipboard and a very reliable expression.

WE ARE HIRING: A super cool human - if you love numbers more than people, and you’d rather reconcile a ledger than argue about a garnish, you’re basically our dream hire.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: or "What You’ll Actually Do!

- Keep the books clean and accurate
- Journal entries, support payroll prep, bank recs.
- Make sure money comes in, goes out, and doesn’t vanish into the “mystery snack fund" or “chef’s inspirational wine budget.”
- Reconcile bank accounts like they owe you money.
- Prepare monthly financial reports that management can actually read (sentences, not just vibes).
- Get tax things done before someone screams “deadline" or starts crying in the walk-in.
- Be the calm voice when someone asks, “Did we pay [rando vendor] yet?”
- Help build budgets and forecasts (yes, we’re that fancy now).
- Keep everything compliant with Canadian federal/provincial rules—no cowboy accounting, no “it’ll probably work” math.

Tools you’ll use:

- QuickBooks, Excel like a wizard,

and maybe a brain that still works after 3 pm.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- You’ve done bookkeeping for at least 2–3 years, not "I counted tips once".
- You know AP/AR, bank recs, month‑end close, and what “accrual” means without Googling.
- You know how to make payroll not feel like a hostage situation.
- You’re obsessively accurate (your tabs are probably labeled too, and you don’t apologize for it).
- Low‑drama, high‑competence.
- Comfortable in a fast‑paced hospitality environment where “quiet Friday” is a myth.

Bonus if:

- You’ve worked with restaurants, bars, or hospitality before.
- You know Nova Scotia payroll, tax, and other local quirks.
- You can explain finance to non‑finance people without sounding like a robot.

ADDITIONAL INFO:

- We are a diverse team that laughs hard, works hard, and respects people who make sure the lights stay on.
- There is no endless corporate theater. Just real work, clear goals, and Friday's that sometimes end with pizza, wine, and bad decisions!

Apply at [email protected] - We’ll respond to everyone. If you’re great, we’ll move fast. If you’re not, we’ll still be polite (and probably cry quietly about another spreadsheet named FINAL_FINAL_v12.xlsx).

Benefits:

- Discounted or free food
- Flexible schedule

Experience:

- Bookkeeping: 2 years (required)

Work Location: Hybrid remote in Mahone Bay, NS
