Swim Team Coach – (Contractor)

The Arbutus Club is seeking a dedicated candidate with availability to work Monday through Friday evenings and during the Swim Team’s special events and swim meets on weekends (if applicable). This position requires a long-term commitment to fostering a safe and effective swim team workplace. If you have a passion for swimming and enjoy working with children, we would love to meet you.

Duties & Responsibilities

- Assist with instructing swimmers in the rules, equipment, and techniques of the sport.
- Ensure the safety of swimmers at practice by following proper precautions and regulations.




- Assess swimmers’ skills and communicate with the Swim Team Director about swimmers’ performances.
- Maintain structure and discipline within a group setting, while encouraging and promoting swimmers' participation in a positive environment

Requirements & Qualifications

- Minimum of 1 year of experience with a swim club or team, and a minimum of 2 years of personal swimming experience on a club or team
- Must be competent with all four (4) competition strokes and comfortable demoing from in and out of water.
- NCCP Level 1 certification
- NLS, SFA, CPR-C, and Swim Instructor certifications considered an asset.
- Knowledgeable, reliable, organized, and have a passion for coaching children and youth ages 6-16
- A Criminal Record Check will be required
