Job Responsibility

-  Engage meaningfully with children to support their physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children.
-  Maintain, clean and organize an inspirational learning environment.
-  Plan and implement age-appropriate, child-centered activities for children, such as media of art, dramatic play, music and physical activity.
-  Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians or supervisor.
-  Model positive adult/child relationships
-  Assess the abilities, interests and needs of children and discuss progress or problems with parents and other staff members.
-  Ensure an environment that protects the health, security and well-being of children.
-  Promote a welcoming setting for all families and community members.
-  Work on a rotated shift and any other shift as required.
-  Develop and implement with your “team” individual and group curriculums for toddler, pre-school and school age children.




-  May plan and organize activities for school-age children in child-care programs before and after regular school hours.

Job Requirements

-  Completion of a two- to four-year college program in early childhood education or a bachelor’s degree in child development, Licensing by a provincial or territorial association for ECE
-  Fluency in English and Mandarin both
-  Experience in licensed childcare
-  Ability to successfully carry out ECE duties and any other responsibilities.
-  Possess excellent behavior guidance skills that include positive reinforcement and redirection strategies.
-  Skills and interests in creative art, drama, music, science, literacy and numeracy programs
-  Working knowledge of the City of Toronto Operating Criteria, Child Care and Early Years Act, How Does Learning Happen/Emergent curriculum.
-  Adequate energy level and ability to meet the physical demands of the job. Job requires frequent lifting up to 20 lbs; bending, kneeling, crouching.
-  A clear Health and Police Reference Check is mandatory prior to employment.
-  Hold a valid standard First Aid/CPR certificate.
