Excavator Operator

DeFord Contracting Inc. is looking for an experienced Excavator Operator for Civil Construction city projects in and around the Greater Edmonton Area. DeFord is a leading contractor in Edmonton, Alberta, specializing in municipal road projects, subdivision land development, parking lots, and other key infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities:

- Operate excavators to complete tasks such as trenching, backfilling, grading, and material handling.
- Read and interpret project plans, blueprints, and specifications.
- Ensure secure and efficient operation of equipment following company and industry safety guidelines.
- Perform daily equipment inspections and basic maintenance to ensure optimal performance.
- Work in coordination with site supervisors, laborers, and other equipment operators to meet project timelines.
- Maintain accurate records of work completed and report any equipment issues.
- Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.

Qualifications:

- 3+ years of experience operating excavators in construction, roadwork,



or earthworks.
- Experience with excavation for municipal roads, subdivisions, or infrastructure projects is an asset.
- Strong understanding of grades, slopes, and excavation techniques.
- Must possess a valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
- Ground Disturbance Level II; preferred.
- Ability to work in a rapid-paced environment and adapt to changing job site conditions.
- Solid commitment to workplace safety.
