Unity MedLift Inc. is seeking a reliable and experienced Wheelchair Vehicle Operator / Patient Transport Driver to provide protected, professional, and compassionate non-emergency transportation throughout the Greater Toronto Area and surrounding regions.

The ideal candidate has previous experience operating a wheelchair-accessible vehicle, is comfortable driving in highway and heavy-traffic conditions, and can respond professionally to dispatch instructions.

Responsibilities

- Safely transport wheelchair passengers to hospitals, long-term care homes, residences, appointments, and other destinations.
- Operate wheelchair ramps and accessibility equipment safely.
- Properly secure wheelchairs and passenger restraint systems before travel.
- Receive and follow trip details and instructions from dispatch.
- Communicate professionally with passengers, families, healthcare staff, and dispatch.
- Complete vehicle safety checks before and after trips.
- Maintain a clean and organized vehicle.
- Navigate efficiently throughout Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area.
- Complete local and long-distance transfers when scheduled.
- Assist passengers during vehicle entry and exit while maintaining their comfort, dignity, and safety.





Requirements

- Valid Ontario G driver’s licence.
- Clean or acceptable driver’s abstract.
- Previous wheelchair-accessible vehicle or patient transportation experience.
- Experience operating wheelchair ramps and securement systems.
- Fluent in spoken and written English.
- Comfortable driving on highways, in heavy traffic, and over long distances.
- Strong knowledge of Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area.
- Comfortable receiving and following dispatch orders.
- Reliable, punctual, professional, and patient.
- Able to work variable and on-call hours.
- Must have a working cellphone with access to calls, text messages, and navigation.
- Legally authorized to work in Canada.

Preferred Qualifications

- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Experience working with seniors, patients, or individuals with mobility limitations.
- Experience driving wheelchair-accessible vans or commercial passenger vehicles.
- Familiarity with hospitals, rehabilitation centres, long-term care homes, and retirement residences throughout the GTA.

Pay: From $20.00 per hour

Work Location: In person
