What You’ll Do
As a Mechanical Designer, you’ll play a vital role in advancing our 3D CAD modeling capabilities and contributing to process improvement initiatives. Reporting to the Drafting Design Manager, you will:
- Collaborate with senior team members to capture design rules and customer requirements.
- Develop and enhance 3D CAD models using Solidworks and Autodesk Inventor, including creating parametric ‘Seed’ models.
- Validate models against historical projects to ensure compliance with real-world requirements.
- Create technical and process documents to support the drafting team’s transition to 3D CAD.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and customer specifications with guidance from senior team members.
- Act as an agent of change, promoting collaboration and innovation within the drafting team.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience in 3D mechanical design (Autodesk Inventor or Solidworks preferred).
- Experience with Solidworks, Inventor iLogic and AutoCAD is highly valued.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Proven ability to solve technical problems and communicate solutions clearly at all levels.
- Experience with process improvement or Lean/Six Sigma projects is an asset.
- Knowledge of pressure vessel or heat exchanger design is desirable.
- A collaborative mindset and the ability to engage team members to drive change.
