Job Summary

As a Accounting Associate you will be responsible to perform and execute audit, review and Notice to Reader engagements with minimal direction and supervision. An ideal candidate would have in-depth knowledge of ASPE, GAAS, CSRE, Canadian taxation and be able to supervise and provide leadership to junior team members.

Job duties and responsibilities

- Plan, execute, prepare working papers and finalize Audit, Review and Notice to Reader engagements with minimal direction and supervision for small to medium size entities
- Prepare and finalize financial statements and related disclosures in accordance with the appropriate accounting framework (ASPE)
- Review client prepared bookkeeping, post adjusting journal entries and reconcile accounts
- Prepare and submit various tax remittance forms such as HST, WSIB, EHT and source deductions
- Prepare and finalize personal and corporate tax returns for various clients
- Prepare information slips such as T4s, T5s, T3s, etc.
- Prepare correspondence to Canada Revenue Agency to deal with personal and corporate tax matters
- Liaison with clients, internal team members and government agencies

- Robust time management skills, including ability to multi task, manage and meet tight deadlines
- Ability to communicate effectively using written, verbal and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to maintain high level of enthusiasm and a positive attitude when coping with pressure at work
- Ability to work in a fast-paced setting, under pressure and take on challenges
- Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office, QuickBooks, Sage 50, Profile, Caseware and Caseview
- Ability to research and resolve accounting and tax matters

Requirements

- Qualified candidate will have a minimum of one year experience in public accounting
- University degree or college diploma in related field
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, QuickBooks, Sage 50, Profile, Caseware and Caseview
- Ability to work hard to meet demands at key times of pressure and take on challenges

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Schedule:

- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed

Experience:

- Accounting: 1 year (preferred)

Work Location: In person
