Job Overview

Senior Family Law Clerk - Full Time

About the Role

Knights Law is a growing family law firm looking for an experienced Senior Family Law Clerk to independently manage files from intake through resolution. This is a hands-on, high-ownership role for a clerk with a proven track record managing their own caseload.

You'll be working inside established systems: structured Clio task workflows, standardized deadline protocols, and explicit file-naming and stage-tracking conventions already built into the firm's practice management setup. This role is created for a clerk who thrives with process and is prepared to focus on substantive file work.

This role is primarily remote. In-person attendance in St. Catharines may be required for team collaboration or client matters that call for it. Candidates must be available to attend the office.

Key Responsibilities

- Independently manage family law files from intake through resolution
- Draft correspondence, pleadings, and court documents
- Prepare DivorceMate calculations (child support, spousal support, equalization)
- Independently draft Financial Statements and Disclosure Briefs
- Manage deadlines, tasks, and billing entries in Clio according to firm protocols
- Communicate directly and professionally with clients, opposing counsel, and court staff
- Maintain accurate, timely time entries and billing records
- Ensure all documents are properly formatted, proofread, and filed correctly and on time

What Success Looks Like

- Files move through Clio workflows with minimal lawyer intervention required
- Consistent, accurate billable time tracked against a target range (to be discussed at offer stage)
- Court and filing deadlines are met with the firm's standard buffer built in
- The firm's court calendar is fully diarized — every deadline is entered, tasks are created against it, and the calendar is updated in real time.
- Clients and counsel experience clear, professional communication at every file stage

Qualifications

- Minimum 3 years' experience as a Law Clerk, family law required
- Strong working knowledge of the Family Law Rules, Practice Direction, Case Centre, and Rules of Civil Procedure
- Proficiency with Clio and DivorceMate required
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams)
- Successful completion of a Law Clerk program is an asset
- Comfortable and self-sufficient working remotely, with strong judgment on when to escalate vs. resolve
- Excellent legal drafting and proofreading skills
- Professional, compassionate client communication style

Compensation

$60,000–$80,000 base, plus a quarterly billing bonus incentive for hours billed above target. Remote/Hybrid TBD

Pay: $60,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
