Overview
As an integral part of the Pharmacy Lab team, the Lab Sterile Compounder (Registrant/Licencee) plays a key role in preparing customized sterile medications across our non-hazardous, hazardous, and chemotherapy (antineoplastic) compounding operations. This role leverages the individual's registration to support clinical accuracy and regulatory compliance while preparing sterile preparations and supporting the lab's daily operations.

Key Responsibilities

- Compound non-hazardous, hazardous, and chemotherapy (antineoplastic) sterile preparations (injections, IV admixtures, creams, gels, capsules, suspensions, and more) in compliance with SOPs, NAPRA, and USP 795/797/800 guidelines
- Calibrate, monitor, and maintain equipment inside and outside the clean room, including biological safety cabinets and compounding aseptic containment isolators used for hazardous and chemotherapy preparations
- Receive, place, and manage orders of medications, solutions, and supplies; maintain inventory and stock levels of raw materials, including controlled tracking of hazardous and chemotherapy drugs
- Organize and maintain the work area inside and outside the clean room, following proper segregation protocols for hazardous and chemotherapy compounding
- Clean and sterilize the aseptic clean room, supplies, and hoods in accordance with onsite SOPs, NAPRA, and USP 797/800
- Review and process incoming prescriptions efficiently and accurately, applying clinical judgment within scope of registration
- Prepare and maintain all required reports and records, including area cleaning logs, equipment logs,



batching records, Master Formulation Records, incubation records, hazardous drug handling logs, and inventory logs
- Thoroughly and accurately complete documentation regarding the processing of materials
- Ensure supplies are assembled, disinfected, and transferred to the aseptic clean room appropriately
- Follow proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe handling, spill management, and disposal procedures for hazardous and chemotherapy preparations
- Label final containers and package/ship orders for delivery to patients and healthcare providers
- Support pharmacists and technicians during the final check process
- Support the team with other duties as needed

Qualifications

- Currently licenced as a Pharmacist or Registered Pharmacy Technician in British Columbia
- Knowledge of aseptic techniques
- Completion of technical training required
- Experience working in a clean room environment (1 year preferred)
- Knowledge of, or willingness to train in, safe handling procedures for hazardous and chemotherapy/antineoplastic drugs (USP 800)
- Commitment to high standards
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, sound judgment, time management skills, and initiative
- Minimum of 1 year full-time pharmacy work experience required
