The Opportunity

We have a full-time, 3-month term position, with the possibility of extension, available for a Recovery Navigation Specialist to work within CMHA’s Service Navigation HUB. The Service Navigation HUB supports Manitobans navigating complex systems of care who are looking to find information on available mental health resources and supports for themselves or a loved one. Our participants may have lived experience with mental illness, addictions, stigma, and discrimination, including racialized and gender-diverse populations as well as their supports. The Position

The Recovery Navigation Specialist connects individuals and families to mental health and addiction services, conducts assessments, provides interim support, and facilitates service navigation, community outreach, and education within a team-oriented, community-focused framework. Observing best practices in privacy, trauma informed approaches, person-centred care and value alignment with CMHA Manitoba and Winnipeg. A full job description is available on request.

The hourly rate for this position falls within Band 5 of the Collective Agreement, ranging from $27.20 to $33.09 per hour, based on a 35-hour workweek. Hours may be adjusted to include evenings and weekends when necessary.

The Qualifications

Required

- 3-year post-secondary degree in a human service- related discipline such as social work, psychology, or nursing. Equivalent education and experience may be considered.
- Two years’ experience in a community-based social service setting (mental health, addiction, housing). Knowledge of the impact of issues related to poverty, homelessness, mental illness, addictions, recovery, mental health, stigma.
- Knowledge of related systems and community resources.




- Familiarity with MS Office.
- Clinical assessment, counselling, and effective communication skills.
- Demonstrated cultural safety and efficiency in working with individuals with various backgrounds.
- Satisfactory criminal record check, vulnerable sector check and abuse registries
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
- Acceptable work record

Preferred

- Aptitude for assisting, problem-solving, advocacy, and time management skills
- Eligible for registration in your professional designation
- Experience working in a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience with community engagement and outreach.
- Knowledge of Indigenous experiences of trauma, colonization, and cultural healing practices and resources.
- Knowledge of approaches such as Housing First, Harm Reduction, Psychosocial Rehabilitation, Stages of Change, and Motivational Interviewing,
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license and access to a reliable, Manitoba registered vehicle.
