About us

We’re a boutique cross-border tax firm in Kitsilano, near Granville Island, specializing in US and Canadian personal tax for US citizens resident in Canada. As part of a small team, you’ll work across many aspects of the practice and a diverse client base — breadth you won’t find at a larger firm — with strong support and a genuine work/life balance.

The role

Working alongside our senior accountants - Kevin Beesley, Tomoko Wakeford, and Shivani Sachdev - you’ll gather client financial information, assemble it into working papers, and prepare US and Canadian personal tax returns. You’ll have real opportunities for professional growth and personal advancement.

- Prepare working papers and accurate, timely T1, Form 1040, FBARs and state returns
- Follow up with clients on missing documentation
- Respond to CRA/IRS correspondence, Notices of Assessment, and review letters
- Collaborate across the team to deliver excellent client service and meet deadlines and extensions

What you bring

- 2–3 years preparing Canadian personal (T1) returns; US personal tax experience is a plus
- Post-secondary education with an Accounting or Business Administration focus preferred
- Strong Excel (lookup tables, pivot tables) and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)
- Clear, professionally written and verbal communication with clients and tax authorities
- Strong attention to detail; able to prioritize, multi-task,

and meet deadlines independently
- Highly logical — able to use AI tools critically, applying their strengths without being led into errors

Nice to have

- Corporate, partnership, trust, information return, and election experience
- Bookkeeping experience for individuals and/or corporations
- Working knowledge of TaxPrep and CCH ProSystem fx
- CPA (Canada or US) or EA designation, or current enrolment in a CPA program

Hours, compensation & benefits

- Approximately 48–55 hours/week from March 1 – June 15; negotiable hours the rest of the year
- Salary $60,000–$88,000 depending on experience and full-time availability, plus a firm profit-based bonus. You will get overtime pay for overtime work.
