Casual Event Server (Temporary – Wedding Event)

About the Role

We are seeking experienced, professional, and hospitality-focused Event Servers to join our team for an elegant wedding celebration. This one-day event will feature a cocktail reception with passed canapés followed by buffet dinner service.

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who thrive in quick-paced, high-end event environments and are passionate about providing exceptional guest service while creating a memorable experience for wedding guests.

Venue: 5580 164 Street, Surrey, BC

Shift: 1pm-9:30pm

Key ResponsibilitiesGuest Service

- Provide warm, friendly, and attentive service throughout the event.
- Greet guests professionally and assist with any requests.
- Maintain a polished, positive, and welcoming presence.
- Ensure guests have an exceptional dining experience.

Passed Canapé Service

- Circulate throughout the cocktail reception with trays of canapés.
- Present food professionally while engaging courteously with guests.
- Monitor tray presentation and replenish items promptly.
- Communicate with the kitchen regarding replenishment needs.

Buffet Service

- Set up buffet stations according to event specifications.
- Assist guests through the buffet line as needed.
- Monitor food levels and replenish buffet items throughout service.
- Maintain an attractive and organized buffet presentation.
- Replace serving utensils and ensure buffet stations remain clean.

Food Safety & Sanitation

- Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures.
- Keep service stations clean, organized, and well stocked.
- Clean spills immediately and maintain a safe working environment.




- Monitor food temperatures where required and report any concerns.

Event Operations

- Assist with event setup and teardown.
- Restock plates, cutlery, napkins, glassware, and service equipment.
- Clear used dishes and glassware throughout the event.
- Assist with room resets and post-event cleanup.
- Support fellow team members and Event Managers wherever needed.

Professional Expectations

- Arrive on time in full uniform and ready to work.
- Maintain a professional appearance and positive attitude.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and fellow team members.
- Work efficiently under pressure during busy service periods.
- Demonstrate flexibility and a willingness to assist wherever needed.

Qualifications

- Previous serving, catering, banquet, or hospitality experience preferred.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to carry serving trays safely and confidently.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a team.

Physical Requirements

- Standing and walking for extended periods.
- Frequent bending, lifting, carrying, and reaching.
- Ability to carry trays of food and beverages throughout service.

Additional Information

- Employment is on a casual, one-day contract basis.
- Payment will be processed via direct deposit on August 28th.
- Detailed event information, timelines, and service expectations will be shared prior to the event.
- A brief pre-service meeting will be held before the event to review assignments and expectations.
