Licensed Practical Nurse, Long Term Care

Hours: Casual as needed, flexibility for days and night shifts

Pay Rate: $55/hr INC

We are on the hunt for a Licensed Practical Nurses to work with our client, a long-term care facility in the area! You'll work alongside a team of multi-disciplinary healthcare professionals to deliver quality nursing services to the residents living at the home. Accommodations and travel are provided.

We are looking for LPNs with flexibility to fill various shifts on a casual basis to help support the operational needs of the home.

Key Responsibilities:

· Provide holistic care to elderly patients with a variety of medical conditions.

· Complete head-to-toe assessments, monitor patients for changes in symptoms and report any abnormalities to the physician.

· Complete vital signs and other routine procedures (bloodwork etc…) on all patients assigned to care, as ordered.

· Provide treatments for wounds.

· Administer medications in accordance to provincial standards and organizational policy.

· Participate in multi-disciplinary rounds as requested and provide up-to-date information on all clients assigned to your care.

· Engage in therapeutic communication with clients, taking time to answer questions and provide comfort.

· Assist members of the multi-disciplinary healthcare team when asked.

· Document all client assessments, medication administration, and treatments in the organization’s electronic medical record system.

· Provide mentorship to CCAs.

· Engage in workshops and education sessions to foster career growth and learning, when offered.





· Represent the values of the client organization at all times.

· Other duties as required.

Required Qualifications:

· Valid, unconditional Practical Nursing license to for the province of Nova Scotia

· Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sectors completed.

· CPR (level C) taken within the last year.

· Experience working in long term care.

· Experience providing basic wound care.

· Ability to administer medications to a group of patients.

· Exceptional organization and time management skills.

· Positive attitude and adaptability.

· Ability to clearly articulate changes in client condition to the physician in a timely fashion.

· Ability to use proper body mechanics to assist in turning and transferring clients.

· Excellent hand hygiene practice.
