The Kumon Vancouver-Killarney is looking for part-time teaching assistants to work with students ranging from preschool to high school in an after school math and reading program.

We are looking particularly for candidates who value education and have a passion for Math and Reading. The candidate should be proficient with Math and Reading up to high school. The position entails assisting the Kumon Instructor in areas including, but not limited to, helping students( Early Learners to High Schoolers) in Math & Reading, marking/grading assignments. The job may also entail setting up the classroom, and answering the phone during class hours.

The role is part-time with availability requirements on Monday, and/or Tuesday, and/or Thursday, and/or Friday- 2:45 PM to 7 PM.

The job involves

- Grading students' classwork and homework quickly and efficiently using an answer book.
- Recording scores of classwork and homework into record books (basic data entry)
- Providing helpful answers to questions from students, while being mindful of the Kumon method.
- Working with up to two young students ages 3+ at a time. (Early-Learning specific)
- Instructing students through their classwork (for example:



following directions, pronouncing letter sounds correctly, reading numbers correctly).(Early-Learning specific)
- Reporting student progress to the Instructor.

Applicants must:

- Be proficient In Math ( High school) , English (in terms of sentence structure, letter sounds, grammar, and comprehension).
- Be mature and looking for a long term commitment; this is not a temporary position
- Previous experience as Kumon Student or Kumon Teaching Assistant would be an asset
- Have experience working with children
- Enjoy working with children of all ages.
- Have excellent oral and written language skills
- Be an eager and quick learner
- Be well mannered and polite; staff members are expected to set good examples for the students.
- Be punctual and reliable.
- Be able to multitask and work under pressure

Job Types: Part time, Temporary

Pay: $18.25-$20.00 per hour
