You Know There's More to You Than Your Current Role Reflects

Maybe you're the person who taught yourself a tool at your last job, not because anyone asked, but because the manual way drove you crazy. Or you're the one who reorganised the filing system, figured out the workaround when something broke, or quietly made a process better before anyone noticed it was broken.

You're curious. You like solving puzzles. You want your work to actually matter.

But right now you're stuck in a role where your ideas disappear into a void, problems stay broken because "this is the way we've always done it," and your brain is on autopilot most of the day.

You're ready for something different. Not just a new job. A place where your natural problem-solving instincts are actually valued.

That instinct has a name. It's called being a Technologist.

Most people are taught to work within systems. The mindset is "this is the way we've always done it," and for most workplaces, that's enough.

At BTN, we recognize that the pace at which technology is evolving demands a different kind of team member. Businesses don't just need people who can operate systems. They need Technologists.

Technologists actively make systems better. They identify what's not working, replace what's dysfunctional, and build toward outcomes instead of maintaining the status quo. We don't accept "this is the way it is." We make it better.

That's who we are. And if that describes how you already think, this might be where you belong.

A Note Before You Apply

When some of our current team members first saw this posting, they thought it sounded too good to be true. One almost didn't apply because of it. Business Tech Ninjas has been operating for over ten years. We'd rather you take five minutes to look us up and verify that than talk yourself out of applying.

You can find our site here with links to podcasts our CEO, Melodie Moore has been on: https://businesstechninjas.com/

You can watch her interview with Clate Mask, former CEO of Keap, a CRM platform we have specialized in for over ten years: https://keap.com/resources/podcasts/conquer-the-chaos-melodie-moore

The people who pushed through that initial hesitation are some of our longest-tenured team members.

This Role Is Not For Everyone

We want to be direct so you can self-select honestly.

This is not the right fit if you need someone to walk you through every task step by step. We will teach you how to think through problems, but we will not hand you a checklist for every situation. We've had people come through who were fantastic on paper and fell apart the moment a task didn't come with instructions. That's not a character flaw. It's just not BTN, and it's not what it means to be a Technologist.

This role is also not the right fit if you're looking for a low-effort remote job, if feedback feels like criticism rather than information, or if ambiguity makes you freeze rather than ask questions.

One of our team members said it well: if someone tells you "here's the context, go figure it out" and your first reaction is excitement with a little tinge of doubt, then you'll love it here.

What If Work Could Develop You, Not Just Pay You?

At Business Tech Ninjas, we believe work should give you more than a paycheck. It should give you skills that compound over time, confidence that comes from mastering real challenges, and a future you're actively building.

We're not a typical tech agency. We build and maintain WordPress membership sites for seven-figure online businesses. Our clients depend on us to keep complex systems running, and we depend on our team to think, not just execute.

You'll start as an Operator, learning to work the systems we build for clients: WordPress sites, CRM platforms, email automation, membership systems. You'll troubleshoot issues, support client meetings, and master the fundamentals.

As you prove yourself, you'll progress:

- Technologist Operator: you work systems reliably and proactively
- Implementer: you start building and improving systems
- Technologist Implementer: you own implementation projects independently
- Architect and beyond: you design systems and strategy

This isn't a vague career path. It's a progression system with real standards. You level up by proving it, not waiting for it.

The Role: Phase by Phase

Phase 1: Operator

Your focus is learning how the systems work by actually working them.

You will:

- Execute WordPress updates, CRM configurations, and email automation setups
- Troubleshoot client issues with team support
- Take meeting notes, manage agendas, and follow up on action items
- Learn BTN's tools and processes (ClickUp, Slack, DailyBot)
- Shadow more experienced team members on client calls

You're not expected to know everything. You're expected to learn actively and improve week over week.

We teach you how to think through technical problems systematically, how to communicate clearly with clients and teammates, how to manage your time without constant oversight, and how to take feedback and use it quickly.

Phase 2: Technologist Operator

Your focus is owning your work with minimal supervision.

You will:

- Handle troubleshooting independently and with confidence
- Prep and lead portions of client meetings
- Catch errors before they become problems
- Suggest small improvements to processes
- Support newer Operators as they learn

You're no longer just completing tasks. You're thinking ahead and reducing friction for the team.

Phase 3: Implementer

Your focus shifts from working systems to building them.

You will:

- Design and build automation workflows from scratch
- Own full implementation projects for clients
- Make strategic decisions about how to solve complex problems
- Mentor Operators and newer team members

We do see candidates reach Implementer within the first 30 to 90 days. Pay is adjusted based on progression.

What You'll Learn That Most Jobs Won't Teach You

Technical skills:

- WordPress development and optimization
- CRM systems (Keap, ActiveCampaign, and more)
- Marketing automation and funnel building
- Membership site architecture
- Data systems and troubleshooting
- Client communication and project management

Self-leadership skills:

- Ownership: taking responsibility for outcomes, not just effort
- Emotional regulation: receiving feedback without defensiveness
- Proactive communication: flagging issues early, closing loops
- Systems thinking: seeing patterns and connections across tasks
- Continuous improvement: getting 1% better every week

The technical skills make you employable anywhere. The self-leadership skills make you irreplaceable everywhere.

Who You Are

This role is not about what you already know. It's about what you're willing to become. The technical skills are learnable. What we're looking for is someone with the courage to grow, the honesty to receive feedback without shutting down, and the drive to be better tomorrow than they are today.

That's not a skill. That's a choice. And it's the most important one you'll make here.

You thrive when:

- You get to figure things out, with support rather than in isolation
- Your work feels purposeful and well-organized
- You're learning something new every week
- You're recognized for solving problems, not just showing up
- You can see yourself improving month over month

You struggle when:

- Everything is chaotic and nothing makes sense
- No one cares if you grow or get stuck
- Feedback feels like punishment instead of coaching
- Your ideas and effort go unnoticed
- The work is mindless and repetitive

What Life at BTN Actually Looks Like

No two weeks are the same here. That's not a selling point we added to the posting. It's something every person on the team mentions when asked what surprised them most. You have to be comfortable with change, with new challenges, and with occasionally not having a clear answer yet.

If you like trying current things and figuring things out as you go, you'll likely love it here.

Your week:

- Monday Morning Huddle (75 min): team sync, review last week, plan this week
- Daily Standups (9:45am EST): quick alignment, unblock issues, stay connected
- Client Meetings: Zoom calls where you take notes, implement solutions, and build relationships
- Focused Work Blocks: time to execute tasks, learn new tools, and solve problems
- Weekly 1:1s: personalized coaching on your growth and performance

We're remote-first but not isolated. You're part of a team that collaborates, supports each other, and pushes each other to grow. There's no drama here, and that's not accidental. We don't have time for it, and the culture actively selects against it.

What We Provide

Compensation:

- Start at $18 CAD/hour as an Operator
- 25% raises within 6 to 12 months for proven performers
- 45% raises within the first year for high achievers
- Pay adjusted as you progress through each level

Flexibility:

- Work from anywhere within EST business hours
- Flexible scheduling once you've proven reliability
- Additional days off during the Christmas period
- Tech and training reimbursements

Development:

- Weekly coaching and feedback
- Training in both technical skills and self-leadership
- A team that genuinely wants you to succeed
- Work that challenges your brain in the best way

What We Expect

We're investing in you. Here's what we need in return:

Own your outcomes. When something goes wrong, reflect on your role and adjust. Do not look for somewhere else to place the blame.

Communicate proactively. Don't wait to be asked. Flag issues early, ask questions, close loops.

Show up prepared. Meetings have agendas. Tasks have deadlines. Manage your time like a professional.

Integrate feedback quickly. We coach because we care about your growth. Defensiveness slows everyone down.

Get 1% better every week. Small, consistent progress compounds into real mastery.

You Deserve Work That Develops You
