Annual salary: $ 131,100.00 - 165,800.00

Position Highlights
Capital Construction, within Project Delivery, is responsible for a multi-billion dollar portfolio comprising of more than 2,000
active contracts. The Capital Construction Group safely delivers large, multi-disciplined, complex high-risk projects that span
multiple years. The group adheres to well-developed standards, has developed and maintained outstanding supplier
partnerships as well as stakeholder and First Nations relations. Through continuous improvement of our people, processes,
and tools, we are responsible for all aspects of the safe construction of capital projects.

Our teams work across Lower Mainland, Bridge and Vancouver Island regions areas of the province to successfully manage
the completion of Construction and Supply & Installation Contracts. Specifically, we help to manage project safety,
environmental/social, quality, schedule and cost risks.

What you'll do

- Provide Senior Construction and Contract Management direction and supervision.

- Directs and supervises a mixed unit of BC Hydro Construction Managers, Construction officers, support staff and/or

external consultants in the fields of construction management, contract management and commissioning





- Ensures that all phases of construction work and associated activities related to assigned projects is planned and carried

out efficiently and effectively in terms of safety, quality, schedule, cost and scope

- Provides leadership and ensures employee safety

- Demonstrates strong leadership and relationship management skills, influencing stakeholders, building trust, and fostering

collaboration across diverse teams and external partners to achieve project objectives.

- Ensures adequate resources are in place to meet multi-year project and program plans

- Provides technical guidance and ensures adequate technical reviews are completed as required

- Assists in the development of business unit objectives, quality assurance standards, customer needs, and performance

measurements and assists in managing the construction management division operational performance to meet these
objectives and client servicing needs

- Conducts "Constructability Reviews" of projects throughout various phases in the project life-cycle and reviews contract

tender documents

- Provides input to the public consultation process as it pertains to construction site activities and issues

- As "Hydro's Representative", manages construction and equipment installation contracts, ensuring the successful

completion of the contract work in an orderly and timely manner

- Negotiates work changes and equitable adjustment requests or makes ruling on disputes between BC Hydro and the

contractor

- Investigates and resolves claims on BC Hydro's behalf

- Conducts regular construction site visits to provide support to employees/external resources and to ensure all applicable

protocols, procedures, policies, standards, regulations, etc. are being met.

What you bring

- High school graduation plus additional technical training in the civil, structural, mechanical and/or electrical field(s)

equivalent to a partial university degree in engineering or graduation from a technical institute.





- Extensive on-the-job experience & training, without a formal degree or diploma, will be considered.

- Ten (10) years of progressively more complex experience in the construction industry including considerable experience

with electric utility projects performing construction/contract management.

- Considerable technical knowledge in civil, structural, mechanical and/or electrical work.

- Strong interpersonal skills.

- Ability to relate and discuss issues with a range of professionals from trades people to senior management.

- Ability and passion to provide strong work leadership and technical direction to engineers or other technical support staff.

- Ability to manage a project or series of projects of considerable scope and complexity on time and within budget.

- Demonstrated knowledge in construction methods and procedures in a utility environment.

- Demonstrated organization, project planning and people management skills.

- Extensive experience in the construction of dams and spillways will be considered an asset for this position.
