Join our team as a Veterinary Assistant and play a vital role in delivering compassionate, high-quality care to our animal patients. In this hands-on position, you will work closely alongside our veterinarians and clinic team, supporting daily procedures, patient handling, and clinical operations in a supportive, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Patient Handling & Physical Care: Safely restrain animals of all sizes—including large dogs—during examinations and treatments. This is a physically demanding role that requires frequent standing, bending, kneeling, and lifting. Assist with feeding and support basic care procedures.
- Clinical Preparation: Prepare exam rooms, treatment areas, and surgical suites for daily appointments and surgical procedures.
- Surgical Prep & Sterilisation: Properly clean, wrap, and sterilise surgical instruments and packs in accordance with hygiene and safety protocols.
- Facility & Equipment Care: Maintain strict sanitation and cleanliness protocols for kennels, cages, treatment areas, and surgical equipment.
- Diagnostic & Lab Support: Assist with sample collection, basic laboratory processing, and diagnostic record keeping.
- Inventory Management: Help maintain inventory levels, restock clinical supplies,
and ensure all equipment is properly sanitised and prepped.
- Patient Records: Accurately log patient details, procedures, and observations into medical records.
Qualifications & Skills
- Animal Handling & Physical Stamina: Proven ability or confidence handling animals of varying sizes and temperaments safely and calmly. Must be physically capable of lifting heavy animals and managing physically active tasks (bending, stooping, lifting, and restraining large dogs).
- Laboratory Experience: Prior experience with laboratory tasks or diagnostic sample handling is a plus.
- Detail-Oriented: Ability to follow multi-step instructions and safety protocols precisely in a busy clinical environment.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective teamwork and explicit interaction with pet owners.
- Eagerness to Learn: A proactive mindset with a strong desire to develop skills within veterinary care.
