Job Description :

Position Summary :The Maintenance Associate is responsible for supporting the daily maintenance, repair, and upkeep of five gym locations within the city. This role requires a hands-on, proactive handyman profile with solid experience in general maintenance, painting, basic mechanical systems, plumbing, electrical troubleshooting, cleaning equipment maintenance, and facility repairs.

The ideal candidate is reliable, self-motivated, organized, and able to move efficiently between locations using their own vehicle. This person should have basic personal tools, be comfortable working in an active gym environment, communicate effectively with club managers, and ensure that all facilities remain safe,functional, clean, and presentable for members and staff.

Roles and Responsibilities :

- Perform routine inspections across all five gym locations to identify maintenance issues before they become major problems.
- Complete minor repairs related to walls, doors, floors, ceiling tiles, lockers, washrooms, change rooms,fixtures, common areas, and member-facing spaces.
- Respond to maintenance requests submitted by club teams through the company’s maintenance reporting system.
- Prioritize work based on urgency, safety impact, member experience, business continuity, cost, and operational needs.




- Report serious facility concerns immediately to the Director of Projects & Maintenance and the appropriate Club Manager.
- Repair minor drywall damage, patch holes, sand, prime, and paint affected areas.
- Maintain a professional appearance in high-traffic areas, studios, offices, washrooms, locker rooms,hallways, and front-of-house areas.
- Inspect washrooms, showers, sinks, mop stations, and mechanical rooms regularly.
- Support urgent response to water leaks, flooding risks, drain issues, or washroom disruptions.
- Travel between five gym locations within the city using own vehicle.
- Plan daily routes efficiently based on priority, location, urgency, and available parts or tools.

Qualifications:

- Experience working in gyms, fitness clubs, retail facilities, hospitality, commercial buildings, or multi-site operations.
- Basic knowledge of HVAC, pumps, lighting systems, doors, locks, washroom fixtures, cleaning machines, and fitness equipment support.
- Familiarity with maintenance platforms such as Facility Vitals or similar systems.
- First Aid, WHMIS, or basic safety training is an asset.
- Experience coordinating with contractors, vendors, cleaners, and club-level management is an asset.
