The purpose of this job posting is to create an active bank of candidates for six months (July 17, 2026 to January 17, 2027).

SUMMARY OF DUTIES

Farm Operations provides all animal husbandry: performs milking, detects, treats sick animals, administer/calculates prescribed medications, performs artificial insemination to livestock/detects animals in heat to ensure naturel mating, operates farm machinery safely around public on a daily basis; Harvesting crops, feeds, grooms and clips animals; trims hooves; manipulates chemicals; ensures chores are completed on a timely matter before the museum opening; Herdspersons operate the farm at the highest standards to keep animals in optimal health and production, while providing a protected educational space for public viewing while performing other duties.

EDUCATION

Requires a post-secondary education in agriculture related field or: five years’ experience in animal husbandry / farming industry (dairy, beef, horses, small animals);

EXPERIENCE

- Experience livestock handling safely around public, recognizing signs of healthy/distress animals and understanding why;
Experience and knowledge with operating power take off on tractor (PTO), silo unloader,



stable cleaner and other highly hazardous power equipment

KNOWLEDGE

- Knowledge on calculating dosage/administrating medication to livestock;
- Understanding procedures, techniques with regards of milking by following Canadian Quality of Milk regulation Standing Operations Procedures;
- Knowledge on handling chemicals, WHIMIS training;
- Knowledge of the cow software management program called Dairy Comp from Lactanet Inc. approved by Dairy Farmers of Ontario;
Knowledge/experience with Operating Heavy farm machinery safely with precision in crowded situation, confined spaces, ex: tractor and loader and self-propelled feed cart, backing up tractor with Implements, driving truck and trailer on site, harvesting such as cutting hay, baling, raking, tedding, bringing hay wagons on site.

COMPETENCIES

- Ability to work as a team, without supervision, have a high degree of flexibility, manage time effectively and be a problem solver. Ability to handle stress, pressure, deadlines, unwanted distraction, interact with visitors while working in a physically demanding job and adjust and adapt to different situation quickly;
- Requires a valid G class driver license, or class 5 in QC, and an asset to have: Safety at heights, Confined spaces, Fall arrest, WHIMIS, Forklift training, First Aid /CPR, Drug Administration training;
- Recognizing/Reporting all zoonotic illnesses and concerns, following bio security in place during outbreaks in order to prevent from spreading from animals to humans (ex: orf, e-coli, winter dysentery);
Effective communication skills to converse with activist, concerned visitors, answering questions from public with regards to new farming methods in Canada.
