BGC Big Brothers Big Sisters is seeking individuals interested in the following position(s):

Status: Temporary Full-Time 7-month contract (37.5 hours per week)

Salary Range: $58,000-$63,000 annually

The Change Through Challenge Coordinator works with junior high youth who would benefit from early intervention and positive mentoring supports. Through one-to-one mentoring, small group programming, physical fitness, outdoor adventure and life skills development, the Coordinator helps youth strengthen resilience, build healthy relationships and reduce the likelihood of involvement in risky or criminal behaviour.

The key responsibilities of this position will include:

· Planning and facilitating engaging one-to-one and group programming focused on resilience, healthy relationships, leadership and positive youth development.

· Delivering fitness-based, adventure-based and experiential programming that encourages confidence, perseverance,



communication and personal growth. Including a hockey based program once per week for vulnerable young people.

· Support youth through individualized mentoring, helping them identify goals, overcome barriers and build positive life skills.

· Build trusting, strength-based relationships with youth while creating safe, welcoming and inclusive environments.

· Collaborate with junior high schools, community organizations and internal programs to identify youth who would benefit from early intervention programming.

· Coordinate youth enrolment, orientation and ongoing participation, ensuring youth and families understand program expectations and supports available.

· Connect youth with additional agency programs, community resources and opportunities that support their ongoing success.

· Plan youth events, workshops, seasonal programming and community engagement opportunities that encourage healthy lifestyles and positive community involvement.

· Maintain collaborative relationships with schools, families, community partners and referral sources to ensure coordinated supports for youth.

· Ensure programming meets all agency standards related to child safety, risk management and participant well-being.

· Maintain accurate electronic case notes, program statistics and required documentation while supporting program evaluation and funder outcomes.

The successful candidate will have:

· A diploma or degree in youth development, social work, education, recreation, or another related human services field.

· A minimum of five (5) years' combined experience in youth programming, case management, recreation,



mentoring or youth education.

· Experience working with junior high youth requiring early intervention, behavioural supports or relationship-based programming.

· Knowledge of trauma-informed, strength-based and youth-centered approaches.

· Experience planning and facilitating engaging group programs, workshops or recreational activities.

· An interest in physical activity, fitness or outdoor recreation as tools for youth engagement and personal development. Ability to skate is a requirement and previous hockey experience is an asset

· Solid understanding of the challenges facing vulnerable youth and the community resources available to support them.

· Excellent communication, relationship building, organizational and documentation skills.

· Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with schools, families, volunteers and community partners.

· Strong judgement, flexibility, creativity and problem-solving skills.

· Current First Aid/CPR certification or willingness to obtain.

· Ability to work up to five early evenings per week, with flexibility to work occasional weekends and shift to daytime programming during school breaks and summer months.

· Valid Alberta Driver's License and access to a reliable vehicle, as transportation of youth may be required.

Candidates must be capable of performing independently as well as part of a team environment and have excellent interpersonal skills.
