In-Home Respite Nursing Services (Pediatric) - After-School Care (part-time)

In search of an Individual or Independent Contractor to act as a Service Provider for our Family-Managed Care under the Ontario Health at Home program.

The patient is a charming four-year old boy with significant muscular weakness due to a rare genetic disease. He is non-ambulatory and requires assistance with all physical activities.

Qualifications:

- Registered Practical Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Professional liability insurance as per regulatory college requirements
- Police Vulnerable Sector Check (current)
- First aid (current)

Requirements:

- Ability to lift and transition up to 40 pounds.
- Ventilator training (Bi-pap) or equivalent experience
- Experience working with young patients with physical disabilities
- Passion for helping young children

Job Description:

This is a part time position providing primarily after-school care. Duties may include but are not limited to:

- G-Tube care
- Cleaning and maintenance of respiratory equipment, inventory of supplies
- Bi-pap and oximeter management/monitoring during naps or illness




- Respiratory therapies (Cough Assist, Nebulizer etc.) daily and as needed
- Preparation of meals and supervision during eating. (Patient is orally fed but is at high risk for choking.)
- Giving daily supplements and medications as needed
- Physiotherapy and stretching
- Postural support and use of orthotic shoes and back brace
- Fall prevention
- Use of wheelchair, standing frame, bath lift and other mobility equipment
- Bathing, hygiene and toileting
- Integration of speech and occupational therapy goals into daily activities
- Support with age-appropriate learning, developmental and behavioural goals
- Supporting family in all areas of patient’s care

Location: Stoney Creek

Wage: $42.00

Schedule: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3pm to 6pm (or 2:30 to 5:30pm, to be determined) for a total of 6 hours per week.

Start date: Approx. Sept 15th, 2026

Please note that under the Ontario Family Managed Care program, the Service Provider is a direct employee of the client/family of the patient.

Pay: $42.00 per hour
