About the Role

The Winnipeg Blues are seeking an enthusiastic and reliable play-by-play broadcaster to be the voice of our live-streamed home games on FloHockey. This is a per-game role, ideal for a broadcasting student, aspiring sports announcer, or experienced hobbyist looking to build their reel in a live junior hockey environment.

Responsibilities

- Deliver engaging, accurate play-by-play commentary for the full duration of each broadcast home game
- Learn and pronounce player names/numbers correctly (rosters provided in advance)
- Provide relevant context: standings, player storylines, stats, and team news
- Coordinate with the FloHockey stream operator/camera crew for timing (intermissions, delays, etc.)
- Arrive early enough to prep — review rosters, confirm audio setup, do a pre-game equipment check
- Maintain a professional, family-friendly broadcast tone consistent with Junior A hockey standards




- Occasionally acknowledge team sponsors during the broadcast as directed

Qualifications

- Strong verbal communication skills and a explicit, engaging on-air voice
- Working knowledge of hockey rules, terminology, and gameplay
- Prior broadcasting, radio, or streaming experience an asset but not required — a demo/sample clip may be requested
- Comfortable working independently with a headset/mic and basic streaming audio setup
- Reliable, punctual, and able to commit to the published home game schedule

Details

- Compensation: $75 per game (to be confirmed)
- Schedule: Home games only, per the 2026–27 season schedule; games typically evenings and weekends
