About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Interim Accountant / Bookkeeper to support our finance team during a transition from QuickBooks Online (QBO) to Rillet. This role will play a critical part in ensuring accurate month-end close activities, financial reporting, and day-to-day accounting operations while maintaining compliance with Canadian accounting and tax requirements.

This position is ideal for a highly organized accounting professional who is comfortable working independently, thrives in a rapid-paced environment, and has strong experience with Canadian accounting practices.

Key ResponsibilitiesMonth-End Close & Financial Operations

- Support month-end close activities and ensure timely completion of assigned tasks.
- Classify and reconcile cash transactions.
- Prepare account reconciliations, including bank and cash reconciliations.
- Draft and post journal entries using established templates.
- Record recurring accounting entries, including:
- Prepaid expense amortization
- Lease accounting
- Other recurring accruals and adjustments

Expense & Accounts Payable Management

- Process and classify Float card transactions.
- Match credit card transactions to supporting invoices and receipts.
- Export processed transactions into the ERP system.
- Perform month-end reconciliation of corporate card activity.
- Manage accounts payable workflows, including:
- Receipt collection and forwarding
- Invoice processing
- Vendor payment support
- Maintaining organized accounting documentation

Payroll Administration

- Prepare and process payroll for the Canadian legal entity.
- Coordinate payroll processing for the U.S. Qualified Employer Organization (PEO).
- Ensure payroll records are accurate, complete, and compliant.

Tax & Compliance





- Prepare and file Canadian HST returns.
- Maintain accurate tax documentation and supporting schedules.
- Ensure compliance with Canadian accounting and reporting requirements.

Required Qualifications

- 3+ years of accounting or bookkeeping experience.
- Strong experience with Canadian legal entity accounting.
- Experience preparing and filing HST returns.
- Experience processing Canadian payroll.
- Familiarity with U.S. PEO payroll is an asset.
- Working knowledge of IFRS reporting standards.
- Experience performing month-end close activities and account reconciliations.
- Strong understanding of accounts payable processes.
- High attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

- Canadian CPA designation (strongly preferred).
- Experience with QuickBooks Online (QBO).
- Experience with ERP systems; exposure to Rillet is a plus, but not required.
- Experience supporting accounting system implementations or ERP migrations.
