Freezer hand/Forklift Operator (1 position)

Shift: Days – Monday to Friday Reports to: Shipping Supervisor
Rate: P5 as per CBA
Shift: 7:00am to 3:30PM

Job purpose

Reporting to the Shipping Supervisor, the Freezer Hand/ Forklift Operator is responsible for stacking, storing, and retrieving pallets of product from the freezer racks, and for removing pallets from the blast freezer for restacking and stocking purposes.

Duties and responsibilities

- Accountable to accurately and efficiently perform duties to warehouse quality poultry products in preparation for delivery to our customers.
- Accountable to ensure a protected working environment for co-workers, customers, and visitors.
- Responsible for other duties as required.
- Assist Packaging when needed.

Qualifications

- Minimum one (1) year shipping/receiving experience.
- Must possess a forklift/power jack license and have 1 year of operating experience.
- Computer knowledge and experience.
- Ability to communicate in English both verbally and in writing.

Working conditions

Frequent exposure to factors such as temperature variations or extremes, moving machinery, noise, and humidity that cause periods of extreme discomfort and/or a moderate risk of accident or illness.

Physical requirements

Physical Effort: Continuously standing or walking. Regular requirement to lift or handle or carry material or equipment of moderate weight. Repetitive use of knives.

Physical Environment: Frequent exposure to factors such as temperature variations or extremes, fumes, moving machinery, humidity, and toxic materials that cause periods of extreme discomfort and/or a moderate risk of accident or illness.

Sensory Attention: Regular need to give close attention, either hearing or seeing, to what is happening.

Mental Stress: Work and environment tend to be repetitious or unchanging. Some pressure from deadlines, production quotas, accuracy or similar demands. There could be some mildly unpleasant social contacts and/or some concern about possible unpleasant situations.
