This is a part-time position based out of Regina, Saskatchewan. Hours of work are based on operational requirements and are not guaranteed. Shifts may be scheduled during the day, evenings, nights, weekends, statutory holidays, and emergency callouts

MobilGrain is a family-founded organization owned by GCM Grosvenor and Bluejay Capital Partners. We operate two Saskatchewan short line railroads, Last Mountain Railway (85 miles) and Big Sky Rail Corp (250 miles), along with nine bulk processing facilities strategically located to support agricultural and industrial supply chains across the province. MobilGrain also operates Intermobil, an intermodal yard in Regina, and MobilEx, a shipping terminal in Thunder Bay.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Conductor/Locomotive Engineer is responsible for the safe operation of locomotives and the movements of rail equipment throughout MobilGrain's Last Mountain Railway (LMR) network. This position supports switching operations and the efficient movement of rail traffic, ensuring work is completed safely and in accordance with railway operating rules and company policies.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We're looking for a reliable, safety-minded individual who is qualified as both a Locomotive Engineer and Conductor. The successful candidate is dependable, works well with others, communicates effectively, and can adapt to changing operational needs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to:

- Operate in and out of CN yards.
- Safely operate locomotives in accordance with CROR, Transport Canada regulations, and company policies.
- Perform conductor duties, including switching, train handling, customer service, and movement protection.
- Conduct job briefings before commencing work.
- Complete required operating documentation and reports.
- Perform locomotive and equipment inspections and report defects.
- Communicate effectively with crew members, customers, dispatch, and other railway personnel.
- Report hazards, incidents, rule violations, and unsafe conditions.
- Maintain compliance with all railway operating rules and safety procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

Education

· Qualified Locomotive Engineer and Conductor.

· Demonstrated knowledge of the Canadian Rail Operating Rules (CROR), with the ability to successfully complete CROR recertification.

Experience

· Proven experience operating locomotives.

· Proven experience in switching operations

Skills

· Strong knowledge of railway operating rules and safe work practices.

· Sound judgement and decision-making skills.

· Strong communication and teamwork skills.

· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

· Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety and safe work practices.





· Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.

· Able to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and statutory holidays, as operationally required.

· Physically capable of walking on uneven terrain, climbing on and off railway equipment, and performing the physical demands of the position.

Employment Requirements

· Valid Class 5 driver's licence and insurability under the company's vehicle insurance policy.

· Successful completion of a pre-employment and fit for duty testing.
