Balo Sports is a family owned sports shop located in the Yonge & Lawrence area in Toronto, Ontario. We have been tuning and servicing skis and snowboards for over 12 years, we sell ski & snowboard equipment and offer skate sharpening services. We offer both in-store and online shopping options for our customers and customer service quality is at the heart of everything we do.

We are excited to be hiring for a Ski/Snowboard Technician / Store Associate to join our team. We are looking for someone who is experienced, motivated, and passionate about the ski & snowboard industry. The core of your responsibilities would be to intake and service customers’ equipment while also helping to support a variety of daily shop operations.

Requirements:

- Excellent customer service skills
- Experience working with tuning/waxing machines, experience with Wintersteiger is a bonus
- Able to perform the following: base repairs, installation and adjustment of bindings (snowboard; ski on-track and flat mount), and waxing.

Responsibilities:

- Repair and maintain ski and snowboard equipment while maintaining accurate service records for all work undertaken and completed.
- Helps to maintain a clean and well organized, well presented storefront to ensure a delightful customer experience




- Learn and work on technology/software systems that we use to create work orders and contact consumers once the work is complete.
- Able to learn product information and effectively and pleasantly guide customers through questions and buying decisions
- When needed, be able to understand, recommend, and provide skate sharpening services to customers based on their needs and preferences.

Ideal Candidate:

- Minimum 1 to 2 years’ experience as a repair technician
- Previous experience and/or comfortable handling ski and snowboard equipment
- Confident & comfortable engaging customers to deliver a delightful and elevated experience
- Passion for skiing, snowboarding, and general sports, health & fitness.
- Is able to take initiative and complete tasks or activities without being asked/supervision
- Must be reliable and punctual. References will be requested and checked.
- Strong team player eager to work collaboratively within the team
- Task focused with a safety-first mindset
- Able to work long hours over the winter season and adaptable to work evenings, weekends, and/or holidays

Pay: $20.00-$26.00 per hour

Education:

- Secondary School (preferred)

Experience:

- Retail: 1 year (preferred)
- Ski & Snowboard Tuning: 1 year (preferred)

Language:

- English (preferred)
