Who We Are: Ktunaxa Kinbasket Child & Family Services (KKCFSS) is a non-profit Delegated Aboriginal Agency governed by the Ktunaxa Nation Council Social Sector Board. KKCFSS is available to Ktunaxa citizens, First Nations, Métis and Inuit living on and off-reserve in the Ktunaxa Traditional Territory.

The Chance: We are looking for a Social Worker to join our team supporting children, youth, and families across Ktunaxa ʔamakʔis.

This role focuses on providing child protection and family support services through culturally grounded, trauma-informed, and strength-based approaches. The work is centered on supporting family connection, safety, and wellbeing, while working collaboratively with families, extended supports, and community partners.

This is a dynamic role that requires sound judgment, emotional resilience, and the ability to navigate complex and sensitive situations.

In the Role of Social Worker, You Will:

- Complete child protection assessments and investigations for children on and off reserve
- Provide ongoing family support and child protection services, including referrals to internal and external supports




- Work collaboratively with families, communities, and service providers to support safety, stability, and family connection
- Assess risk and monitor client functioning on an ongoing basis
- Prepare documentation and support children and families through court processes
- Attend and provide evidence in family and youth court as required
- Support and monitor temporary and permanent placements for children in care
- Coordinate and participate in meetings with community partners, leadership, and service providers
- Apply sound judgment when responding to complex family situations and changing circumstances

What You Will Bring to the Role:

Education & Experience

- Bachelor’s Degree in a Human Services field OR Bachelor’s Degree with a Major/Honors in a Human Services field OR a Master’s level graduate Certificate/Diploma in a Human Services field completed after an unrelated Bachelor’s Degree
- Eligible for full delegation under the Child, Family and Community Service Act
- Minimum 2 years of related experience working with families at risk, child protection, or in a similar role
- Experience working with Indigenous communities and organizations is preferred
- Human Services fields include: Psychology, Sociology, Criminology, Anthropology, Early Childhood Education, Indigenous Studies, Education, Theology, or Nursing
- NOTE: If this education was obtained outside of Canada, it must be assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Service (ICES). A comprehensive report and supplemental report must be provided

Knowledge & Skills

- Strong understanding of Indigenous history, culture, and community dynamics
- Knowledge of the Child, Family and Community Service Act and child protection practice
- Ability to assess risk and respond to complex family situations
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and community partners




- Confidence in responding to sensitive situations, including disclosures of abuse
- Demonstrates professionalism, sound judgment, and the ability to remain composed in emotionally demanding situations
- Approaches work with cultural humility, respect, and a strengths-based mindset
- Valid BC driver’s license and reliable vehicle
